Ernest Straffon

1925 - 1932
1937 - 1949

After serving as the PHHS Band Director for five years, Mr. Straffon resigned in the early 1930's to take a position as home-room teacher in the High School.

In 1937 he again joined the music department at Port Huron High School.

Mr. Straffon's teaching career began at Greenfield, O., where he was a science teacher.
He taught the same subjects in Caro before accepting the position as Superintendent of Schools at New Baltimore in 1918.  During his four years there he organized and directed a city band.

From 1922 to 1924 he was the Superintendent of Schools at Capac where he also led music.

Mr. Straffon was a member of the Port Huron City Band and for six years, beginning in 1927, he served as its president.
